Edinburgh (part I) via the Kelpies...
I didn't mind so much waking up to my 5:30am alarm, usually set for work, this Friday morning; Sam & I were finally heading back to Edinburgh, the city that we fell in love with, during our first holiday together back in 2016.
With the car fully loaded with snacks and the warmest clothes we could find, off we set on our long overdue adventure in Scotland...
The Kelpies at Falkirk; these had long been on my bucket list so I'm really glad we were able to detour to see them. Coupled with the glorious sunshine and unexpectedly blue skies, these gigantic sculptures definitely lived up to expectations. You can easily get lost in your imaginings staring up at them.

Back on the road again...
On arrival, we discovered Sam's family were still en route, so, with blue skies and sunshine as opposed to our last snowy visit, we couldn't resist exploring the nearby Holyrood Park and after a short climb later, we were overlooking the city. We didn't quite make it up Arthur's Seat this trip either but it did feel good to explore a bit more of the park.
This trip was a really thoughtful Christmas gift from Sam's brother and his girlfriend; They soon arrived with Sam's parents and after check in and a cup of tea, we spent the rest of the evening wandering along the Royal Mile...
Sam & I were especially happy to have dinner at our favourite Mexican restaurant, Pancho Villa's again, yummy!
