Lyme Park NT

This Sunday was reserved for explenturing! Sam & I had a lovely afternoon exploring Lyme Park, National Trust. We'd both never been before so it was a lovely treat; after a slow Sunday morning, we arrived far too late to see everything but it's definitely one to return to!

We headed straight for the courtyard, which was all dressed up for Christmas; including to our surprise, patches of snow.

Pressed for time, we opted for exploring the garden over the house this visit; It was just what we needed to blow the cobwebs away... it was one of those beautiful winter afternoons where the light dances. Do you ever feel like the trees are watching you...?

Finding the Orangery was simply magic. Upon opening the door, you were greeted by lush ferns and greenery; the soft splashing of the fountain water in the background.  We could have stayed there all afternoon...

We finally dragged ourselves away from the Orangery to amble around the garden for the rest of the afternoon  🌿 It looks like it'll be lovely when all the Spring flowers come out to say hello. For now, I was quite happy to wander around looking for elves and fairy houses, detouring to 'Killtime Ravine' along the way...

A far off bell then started ringing; it was time to head back.

The rest of the park opens a little later, so when the horizon was alight with this beautiful sunset we couldn't resist extending our day out a little longer.... we headed up over the hills towards the tower in the distance.

It was breathtaking; the wind biting at our coats as you looked over the snowy fells. We didn't quite make it to the tower before the sun set but I'm sure it'll wait for us...😊
